PyLadies Global Meeting

New Business

• pyladies taiwan - merchandise request
  • Phyllis to respond - need to have a call with them
  • not using meetup, but having events, seem active
  • want a donation page, sell swag at events
  • concerns with foreign countries - unfamiliar with local tax laws
  • Phyllis to suggest the approach we take with pyladies shirts @ pycon - by donation, must be okay with giving away if person doesn't want to pay
  • swag shops in other countries - don't have an APAC one(s)
    • Phyllis to reach out to PSF board members who may be familiar with possibilities
    • idea: reach out to regional pycons
• pycon US 2026 launch in december
  • nothing new right now
• PyLadiesCon funding update/request
  • hit their fundraising - ~$45k - received about half of what they've raised
  • need more detail for infra dev contract
  • previously, detailed infra:
    • google alternative
    • volunteer, sponsorship, speaker mgmt & coordination
    • conf data reporting & stats
    • spreadsheet mgmt across everything
  • thoughts:
    • specific contract - PSF has to contract directly w/ them - tax implications
    • grant request - proof chapters actually host watch party, who is selecting, how much each grant is/how many grants are being planned
      • what is a watch party, does it cover food
      • proof - instead of asking for a report, maybe each chapter just take a picture
    • a lot of work for PSF/finance to handle these many payments
      • a lot of work per chapter if many chapters
    • what vendor for captioning; 4100 is not unreasonable
    • ok for virtual platform fees ask

• Nairobi, Kenya funding request
  • max $ / per person per day
  • 40 ppl
  • $ should be in line with multi-day conferences

• 15-year anniversary celebration of first pyladies @ pycon 2026
  • to continue the convo on slack
• Civi Global PyLadies Membership signup/tracking (Phyllis also requested a CiviCRM form for PyLadies grants)
  • Civi does membership mgmt for PSF; ppl who vote have to self certify
  • setup non-paid membership, have a chapter field
  • could be connected from the new site
  • can sign up for a newsletter
  • demo to setup - if you have voted in PSF election, it'd be nearly identical
  • no database mgmt
  • just global management (chapter mgmt not yet supported)
  • possibility of a lot of junk accounts just to vote more
    • minimized by charging $
    • we're not comfortable / not wanting for ppl to pay just to be a member
  • collect name, email, chapter, date/details of last pyladies event
  • ask organizers to help get the word out to register?
