I don't think hevc_hdr_editor supports adding the metadata, only edit if it exists in the bitstream. |

After some testing I discovered that some encoding tools/options are generating video files where the HDR10 static metadata (Mastering Display metadata and Content light level metadata) are stored at container level and not at stream level. As an example, Handbrake is doing that when encoding using the Apple Videotoolbox HW acceleration. When extracting the RAW hevc stream, those metadata are lost and after adding the HDR10+ dynamic metadata and muxing the audio we obtain a video file not fully compliant, because it's missing the HDR10 information.
Would it be possibile to add an option for manually adding the static metadata together with the dynamic ones from the json file ?
In that way the overall process is no more dependent from an encoding tool able to put the static metadata into the hevc stream.
Does it make sense ?
