bug: Notification Bar Text blends into theme (Dark Mode) after reopening Revenge

Bug description

The Notification bar text blends (font turns black) into the background of Dark Mode themes after reopening Revenge from the Recent Activity menu or App Menu. This only happens after Revenge is first initialized. This bug happens on Android. It seems to only occur when a Revenge theme is applied as without a Revenge theme or when launched in Safe Mode, the notification bar text behaves normally.

Steps:

1. Initially open Revenge (either after device boot or closing Revenge).
2. Apply a Dark Mode Revenge themes. The Notification Bar text should be white at this point when first loading the theme.
3. Press the Home button to go back to Android home screen
4. Either reopen Revenge through the app menu or reopen via the Recent App Menu.
5. The Notification Bar Text text should be completely black.

Same issue occurs. The problem seems to be that the Themes extension is always setting the Discord theme to Light.

The “Override theme type” option is not showing up as selected at all in the Themes settings page, and for some unholy reason, it defaults to Light when it can’t remember that it was set to “Auto” or “Dark”.

The "Override Theme Type" option seems to properly interact with other elements of Discord's UI, it merely seems not to remember the selection in the menu itself nor carry over the override for the Notification Bar text when switching away from the app and switching back.

Edit: Leaving the Override Menu open when switching app doesn't actually do anything relevant, oops

Stable 285.14 does seem to fix the issue. If anyone else is having this issue, updating should solve it.

This issue has popped back up as of Discord - 288.15 (288015).

I'm running on 293.15 (stable) and looking at a blocked message, it seems like Discord is listening for some mutation event and just hard reacting with light mode styles getting loaded for everything the theme doesn't override.

Perhaps it's related to the extra theme stuff they offer with Nitro?

This only seems to happen when a Revenge theme is being applied. The default light, dark, and midnight themes (built-in to native Discord itself) behave as you expect and the notification bar's text is readable, even after closing, reopening, and restarting the app itself. This seems to be an issue with explicitly having a Revenge theme loaded. I unfortunately cannot test any of the behavior with Nitro themes.

As a temporary workaround, I use the Nacho Notch app while using Revenge. It is an app that blacks out the notification area at the top of the screen, to make the notch or hole-punch less noticeable on your phone screen.

As a side-effect, the teeny-tiny “×” button on some of the scummy full-screen mobile ads out there show up ON THE NOTIFICATION BAR, so you’ll sometimes have to turn Nacho Notch off when using an app that shows one of those.
