What would you like to see?

I have a DAC/amp device that I use with my laptop via USB connection - but it's NOT usb powered, so eg. it will not power on automatically with my Mac waking up from sleep - I'll have to turn it on manually. MacOS remembers that the dac was chosen as my output device and will switch automatically - but HiFidelity does not. I have to manually select it again from the devices list. I often "pause" playback by closing the lid on the laptop, turning dac off and resume it by opening it up again and turning the dac on - would be great if I didn't have to chose the output device manually each time.
Many apps have the "system default" output option which takes care of this issue.

Why would this be useful?

Why wouldn't it ;) You could either set a chosen device regardless of system settings, or let the app follow system default output.
