PicoClaw runs lean by design. NixOS does too — you only install what you declare, the system never accumulates cruft, and atomic rollbacks mean a bad update never leaves you in a broken state. It's a good match.

What I built

A NixOS module that:

• Runs picoclaw gateway as a hardened systemd service under a dedicated system user
• Generates config.json declaratively from your Nix configuration
• Wraps the CLI so picoclaw status and picoclaw agent talk to the same context as the running service
• Is currently being upstreamed to nixpkgs: picoclaw: init at 2026.2.19 NixOS/nixpkgs#492249
