Display of math in drop-down lists

I'm trying to incorporate some proof-writing activities into a university-level math class and, ideally, I'd like to include math expressions among the options in the drop-down lists of Advanced Fill in the Blanks activities. Within the main text, all math expressions display perfectly. However, within the drop-down lists the math expressions don't seem to render properly. For example, ( \mathbb{R} ) will not display a blackboard bold letter, while ( X^n ) and ( X_n ) display the super- and subscripts inline, rather than in the intended positions. Is it possible to address this?

I'm using Lumi, in case that makes a difference.
