Before I tried to use discharge power level to control battery, I also tried the passive discharging method. I could not have it work. Not sure if I had all boxes ticked right. |

By the way, the discharge depth was set to 8%. In screen shot, battery SOC is at 27%. Battery discharging is not limited to this. |

a quick update. I believe my setting of negative pricing might be the reason. I am not 100% sure. It is a maybe. BTW, I am in Sydney Australia. Sun will go down in 10 hours after this post. |

Thanks for the detailed description and screenshots. One very important prerequisite is often overlooked: ➡️ In the SAJ eSolar SET app, under Working Mode, If this option is not active, the inverter will never discharge the battery to the grid, even if:
In addition:
Important clarification: Please double-check:
If it still doesn’t work after disabling SAJ’s automatic control and enabling battery export, we can investigate further. Best regards |

Thanks stanus74 for the reply. Really appreciated. May I ask how to use own supplier dynamic pricing (via the automatic/AI-based control? maybe)? Could you provide me with a hint? Thanks |

Have you tried to clean your browser cache before you make your test ? Check if APP mode is chanded |

You want to discharge the battery. You need to set to APP mode 1, and set the time and discharge rate. At the moment, you have solar more than your consumption and it is exporting , your battery of course not discharging. |

There is a bit of confusion here. When Export price is good, I want PV to generate as much as possible and export it all. This function is current limited by the Australia Dynamic price used by APP. (When Amber price is good but Price APP is using shows differently, PV will stop working. vice versa). I was trying to turn on Export/Generation Limitation Settings in eSolar APP and control export that way. it seems to be working during the day but Battery will not discharge at night. I am currently using discharge time and power to control export based on Amber pricing. But this seems to limit export to maximum of SAJ invertor's maximum power. What I mean by saying that? let me explain a little further. I have a pre installed system and current SAJ is Hybrid Coupled to the old system. So, what I am trying to achieve is to control SAJ PV output based on Amber's price not the price in SAJ App. At the same time, I want to be able to control battery's discharge as well. Sorry for such a long one. |

Hi Eric, Thanks for your detailed explanation – you're clearly putting a lot of thought into this! From what you've described, there are two major points that could explain the behavior you're seeing: 1️⃣ Hardware Limitation of the SAJ InverterYour inverter model (H2-10K-T2) has a maximum output capacity of 10 kW (AC). This means that the combined total of:
Example: Even if your PV array is generating 15 kW and your battery is ready to discharge, the inverter cannot process more than 10 kW total. This also means that if your old PV system is connected separately and feeds into the grid independently, only that system can contribute to higher export – the SAJ inverter will always cap at its rated 10 kW. 2️⃣ Internal SAJ Logic / External ControlThe SAJ inverter firmware and app logic can override external control via Modbus or Home Assistant, especially if:
Even if Home Assistant writes the correct Modbus values (e.g., discharging power = 100%), the inverter may ignore those commands if it decides – based on its own logic – that export is not allowed. This is why you may see:
🔄 Suggested Actions
Unfortunately, there currently doesn’t seem to be a way to inject Amber pricing directly into the SAJ system (e.g., via API). That means your HA automation is "fighting" against the internal logic of the inverter. Until SAJ exposes a pricing API or full external control is possible, you may be limited to:
Let me know if that helps – happy to assist further if needed! Best regards, |

This is the problem. as I said in my earlier reply, you have to switch it off and manually using the export limit input to control Grid export. as soon as you have that Negative pricing thing enabled in the APP, you lost control of your inverter. |
