Can the adapter be used as a ColecoVision 2-button adapter?

Since the OEM 7800 controller will work on a ColecoVision for two button games, will this adapter allow Genesis / Megadrive controllers to work on the CV as it does for the A7800?

Going by the pinouts that I could fine for wiring up one, I'd consider it in the category of accidentally working if it did work. I don't know how they would specifically work as I've never seen a Colecovision, but I suspect the reason the OEM controllers work is that they've been directly wired to match the competitors product.
