Cross Site Search Backwards Compatibility

Now that cross site search can share categories, the API must change to accept categories and other information. Questions:

- Can we maintain compatibility between versions? That is, can old version search  new ones and vice-versa?
- Should we define `/v2` endpoints or stick with `/v1`?
