Updating single option without providing complete mask payload?

Hi, I'm trying to update a single option (max) on a mask block. The mask looks like this:

Is this possible without providing the complete JSON-payload for the initial mask creation?

My (wrong) intuition tells me it should look like this:

mask.updateOptions({
  blocks: {
    amount: {
      max: new_max_value,
    }
  }
})
