The instructions are actually spot on, but the details matter.
As is mentioned if you're using a Google email or Apple account, run
evernote-backup init-db --oauthThis will outbound you to a screen where you need to authorize a period of access with Evernote. Select your timeframe and "Authorize"
It's also easier to input your password in this format (as Terminal doesn't update you on what's happening)
evernote-backup init-db --user blank@blank.com --password blank-passwordLastly, make a folder in your Documents folder called "evernote" or whatever you want. Then run:
