I guess the first question has to be: do you have plans yourself for adapters and stuff? Or else how is it supposed to work? Each CMS implements their own?

Great question, and thanks for the kind words 🙂

Frontmatter Core deliberately stops at producing a stable, versioned Intermediate Representation (IR) of a project’s content model.

The core itself does not implement any CMS integration. Adapters are expected to live outside the core and consume the IR to:

• generate schemas / blueprints
• map content to a specific CMS
• enforce workflows or conventions

Different CMSs have very different assumptions (data model, workflow, runtime, storage), so the goal is not to standardize behavior, but to standardize the contract.

In practice, this means:

• some adapters may be maintained by me
• others can be implemented by the community
• organizations can also build private adapters tailored to their stack

Frontmatter Core is intentionally opinionated about structure, but unopinionated about how that structure is consumed.

Thanks for the explanation. What I mean to ask is, do you currently have any plans for the somewhat near future or even already started to implement any such adapter? It's a new project, and at least one example would be very useful in order to get started implementing one's own.

Yes, I plan to provide at least one small adapter example to demonstrate how to consume the JSON IR, but nothing is implemented yet.

The focus would be educational (how to map the IR), not a full CMS integration or official adapter.
No concrete timeline yet, but it’s on the roadmap 😄
