Performance difference between appimage and Flatpak

What happened?

From my experience the two types of format of Zen browser tend to have different performance: on my i512th gen with xe graphics when i scroll on any page it lags when on flatpak, where on appimage i dont see any performance issue. On YouTube via appimage I see no framedrops whereas when i use flatpak it drops many frames even on 720p. I am using Linux mint so is not pure flatpak installation but still.

Slow and stuttery performance on flatpak

Not many steps to reproduce, just use the browser normally and check YouTube and any other sites

I think the issue would be involved with flatpak's sand-boxing, which is something we are not in control unfortunately. I'd check if thats also the case with firefox

ok, i tried but still on firefox the performance is better. is there anyway that zen appimage can be updated automatically? thanks for the reply

No, app images dont update automatically, thats why we dont encourage using it.
