  • Refactored the app into modular controller/core/ui/worker components.
  • Reworked batch processing and UI updates.
  • Migrated runtime writes to %LOCALAPPDATA%\MediaCrate for safer, consistent operation on restricted installations.
  • Hardened update-check flow and fixed thread-safety issues that could crash the app from Settings update checks.

Minor

  • Added thumbnail-cache memory controls with periodic cleanup to prevent unbounded growth during long sessions.
  • Moved FFmpeg and Node.js install progress/status into the in-app progress UI.
  • Simplified duplicated helper logic across URL intake, batch-entry presentation, and worker run scaffolding for maintainability.
  • Improved UI sizing/spacing and tutorial dialog behavior with safer UI-thread handling.

MediaCrate is a lightweight desktop app for downloading video and audio from 1,000+ supported websites.

Download MediaCrate for Windows

Installing

  1. Download MediaCrateSetup.exe, or click the blue DOWNLOAD above.

  2. Run the installer

  3. Launch MediaCrate, paste a URL, and click Download

Highlights

  • One-click downloads with real-time progress

  • Single + batch download mode (duplicate/invalid URL detection)

  • Format support: MP4, MP3, MOV, WAV

  • Quality selection up to 4K (when available)

  • Lightweight: ~0% CPU idle, ~1% CPU light use, ~40 MB memory
