Steps to play with Purview Data Map and Data Catalog
- M365 tenant with E5 license
- Azure subscription
- On Azure portal, create resource group
rg-purview-data-map-catalog - In the resource group, add Microsoft Purview account

- Click to open Purview Governance Portal, Navigate to Data Map

- On Purview Governance Portal, go to Data map | Collections
- New collection
Sandbox - New sub collection
Storage
- Add storage account

data
- Upload sample csv file from
filesfolder
- On the storage account | Access Control (IAM), Add Role Assignment
- Select Storage Blob Data Reader role
- In Members tab, select Managed identity, click + Select members and drill down to
purview-sandboxaccount
- Click Select button, Review + Assign
- On Purview Governance Portal, go to Data map | Data sources
- Click Register button, select Azure Blob Storage, and click Continue button

- Name source
AzureBlob-stpurviewdatamap - Select the storage account
- Put in the Storage collection

- Click Register button
- On Purview Governance Portal | Data sources | Map view, select

- Configure

- Click Continue button
