@brianjmurrell It seems that a newer version of gcc and python 3 are required for CentOS 7 build. I tried to add devtoolset-8-toolchain and rh-python36 to the CentOS 7 Dockerfile but it doesn't fix it. Do you know where is the right location to update such dependencies?

Your compiler doesn't support C11 atomics. gcc 4.9/clang 3.6 are the minimum versions with it - perhaps your compiler is too old? C11 atomics support not found Configure failed, check config.log and/or the above output error: Bad exit status from /var/tmp/rpm-tmp.kitEMh (%build)

BTW I copied most of the files from daos-stack/hdf5-vol-daos to this PR

This repo really probably ought to have been archived. We made a conscious decision to stop building our own fio as what's in our supported O/Ses is sufficient, IIRC.

Is there a reason we need this version and that the 3.7 that's in EL7 (for example) is not sufficient?
