I'm not decided yet whether it's appropriate to treat Raspbian like Debian.

Debian generally keeps supporting the "oldstable" version for one year after a new stable version has been released (https://wiki.debian.org/DebianReleases). But there are several forum posts where Raspi devs have essentially stated that they will only fully support the current stable version:

Regardless of how this can be implemented technically: is it really appropriate to claim that a Raspbian version is still supported if its kernel only receives minimal support?

Didn't dig into the details. Just wanted Raspbian support at all.
