Scope: This document, the Integrated Circuit Card (ICC) Specifications for Payment Systems – Book 1, Application Independent ICC to Terminal Interface Requirements, describes the minimum functionality required of integrated circuit cards (ICCs) and terminals to ensure correct operation and interoperability independent of the application to be used. Additional proprietary functionality and features may be provided, but these are beyond the scope of this specification and interoperability cannot be guaranteed.
Scope: This document, the Integrated Circuit Card (ICC) Specifications for Payment Systems – Book 2, Security and Key Management, describes the minimum security functionality required of integrated circuit cards (ICCs) and terminals to ensure correct operation and interoperability. Additional requirements and recommendations are provided with respect to the on-line communication between ICC and issuer and the management of cryptographic keys at terminal, issuer, and payment system level.
Scope: This document, the Integrated Circuit Card Specifications for Payment Systems – Book 3, Application Specification defines the terminal and integrated circuit card (ICC) procedures necessary to effect a payment system transaction in an international interchange environment.
