Enemy Monster Design and Animation User Testing

Introduction

Scoring systems and Lives systems are both key components of gameplay. Score systems provide an incentive for players to achieve a high score, while Lives give players more opportunities to overcome certain obstacles before being forced to restart. Both of these features aim to increase engagement with the game and prolong gameplay.

Purpose

User testing performed was designed to evaluate the implementation of the Lives and Score system. Users were asked a answer a short quantitative questionnaire, then followed up with a few qualitative questions.

Test Plan

Users were informed of the background context and briefly shown the game. They were then prompted for quantitative and qualitative feedback for the enemy monster designs according to these questions:

  1. Which serpent design best aligns with the existing game?
  2. What aspects about the chosen serpent design do you like, and/or what would you change?
  3. Do you think the chosen serpent design aligns with the game concept and theme?
  4. Do you think the chosen serpent design complements the existing graphics?
  5. Do you think chosen serpent design is easily distinguishable as an enemy?
  6. Which serpent design best aligns with the existing game?
  7. What aspects about the chosen rock golem design do you like, and/or what would you change?
  8. Do you think the chosen rock golem design aligns with the game concept and theme?
  9. Do you think the chosen rock golem design complements the existing graphics?
  10. Do you think chosen rock golem design is easily distinguishable as an enemy?
