About this documentation: This wiki is intended to document the recommended Wikidata properties to used in the proposed Wikidata schema to describe research expeditions and give guidance on how those properties may be used in practice. This wiki content will be modified, improved and extended over time.

What is a "research expedition"?

An expedition stands alone from ongoing collections
An expedition has a research aim (*but the aim may not be the only reason for the expedition)
An expedition travels somewhere

It may also:
Have external funders
Have a running set of collection (field) numbers
Have a one or more specific collecting site or locality
Have one or more people on the expedition or use collecting teams
